Dr. Fatima Waziri – Azi, LL.B., B.L., LL.M., S.J.D. (Ph.D in Law)

Dr. Fatima Waziri – Azi, a Nigerian attorney and an academic, is the founder of Safe Haven Foundation (SHF). SHF was conceived out of the recognition of this disturbing problem of domestic violence and the need for the continuous campaign against domestic violence through education and most importantly for the provision of temporary shelter for domestic violence victims and their children who are fleeing their attacker. As it stands today, Nigeria is in dire need of well-funded shelters and relief support for domestic violence victims. Moreover, the provision of shelter and other services is a critical part of states’ obligation to protect victims of violence. 

Dr. Waziri – Azi has always had the passion when it came to women and children’s issues. As a program officer with the Human Rights Law Service (HURILAWS)/ Olisa Agbakoba Legal, her designation was the women’s rights desk. Dr. Waziri - Azi also worked with the New York City, Administration of Children Services, Division of Legal Services in the State of New York. She was a Legal Fellow at Transparency International USA, Washington DC. She consults for national and international organizations. She presently works with the Nigerian public sector and is into academic research.

Dr. Waziri – Azi holds a Masters in Law degree from St Thomas University School of Law, Miami, Florida – U.S.A and a Doctor of Juridical Science degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – U.S.A. She is an Associate member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK); member, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA); member, Association of Women in Development (AWID); member, Women in International Security (WIIS) and member, International Scrabble Club (ISC). She is an online community volunteer with World Pulse. Dr Waziri – Azi has authored numerous publications in various books and journals; her interest lies in the area of human rights and her goal in life is to make a positive impact in the lives of people through her work.

Patrick Nnamdi Azi

Patrick Azi is an engineer by training and a graduate from the University of Benin, Nigeria. During his early career as an Engineer, Patrick worked with various oil companies including Shell Nigeria. He later ventured off on his own to become an entrepreneur.

He is currently the Chief Executive Officer of 3D Hi-tech Limited. His area of focus is power generation.

As a distinguished philanthropist, Patrick is passionate about the plight of women and children and he seeks to contribute his own quota to the betterment of these groups of persons by contributing towards their cause.

Patrick enjoys traveling and exploring different cultures of the world.

He is a voracious reader and enjoys watching football.


Dr. Sandra Nneka Anyoha, DNP, FNP, MSN, MPH, APRN

Dr Sandra Nneka Anyoha initiated the formation of the National Association of Nigerian Nurses in North America (NANNNA) by reaching out to the various Nigerian Nursing organizations. In 2007 when there were high incidences of domestic violence among Nigerians in the United States of America, she rallied all the chapter presidents of Nigerian Nurses Association in USA and Canada to form NANNNA.

She is a board member of NANNNA and served as its first National secretary. Dr. Sandra holds a Doctorate in Nursing (Family practice) from the University of Massachusetts Amherst  USA with emphasis’s on maternal child health. Dr Sandra obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Hunter College. In addition, she has a Masters degree in Science and a Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) from Hunter college City university of New York.

Dr Anyoha is currently the Chief Nursing officer at Modern Era Pediatrics. She has an extensive experience as a Professional Registered Nurse, spanning over 16 years’. She has worked in various fields of nursing; Critical care, adult nursing, public health, pediatric nursing and management. She is also a staff member at Stamford Hospital where she is the chair of the Night council

Dr Anyoha is a true visionary who understands that Nurses are first line health care providers and have the necessary skills to impact health care. Sandra believes that Nigerian Nurses should participate in the health care policy in order to transform the current health care system in Nigeria to a true holistic system where health care can be accessed by all. She is passionate about the health of women and children. Dr Anyoha is a recipient of the prestigious “Florence Nightingale “award in the state of Connecticut. She has received numerous patient satisfaction letters, a leadership award from NANNNA.  Sandra was a-research intern at (UNICEF) and participated in the publication of UNICEF work on “Girls education”. 

Sandra was a sub-investigator for a pediatric research project on Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Score at Stamford hospital. This research could help us identify areas of the NAS Score that need improvement so that we can provide Supportive treatment to neonates withdrawing from opiates and was accepted for poster presentation by the Journal of Pediatrics in the USA. 

Sandra participated in the Nigerian Ministry of health roundtable discussion on “The effectiveness of Medical Mission in Nigeria “Sandra volunteers with girls scout of America, and is active in her local church. She enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, and yoga. She is married to a physician Dr. Anselm Anyoha, and they are blessed with three beautiful children.

Jimmy Ashafa Waziri

Jimmy  Ashafa Waziri is the Director, Heritage Computer Services Limited, Nigeria. His high level Information Technology skills took him to the level of an Advisor on Information and Communication Technology to two past governors of Kaduna State Governor. Jimmy also is an educationist and this aspect of his career elevated him to the position of the Vice Principal, Nigerian Turkish International College, Kaduna.

His love for the care and empowerment of women/children/youths motivated him to assume the duty of the Secretary General, I care Women and Youth Initiative a Pet Project of Her Excellency, Hajia Namadi Sambo, the wife of a former governor Kaduna State and Vice President of Nigeria.


Dr. Diane Igoche

Diane A. Igoche, PhD is a passionate human rights advocate. Diane seeks to understand the underlying causes of domestic violence in the family setting. She volunteers with groups dedicated to the empowerment of survivors of domestic abuse, and she is dedicated to supporting the mission of Safe Haven to make a great impact in the society.
