Our Services

At Safe Haven Foundation (SHF), we are committed to providing comprehensive support to those affected by domestic and sexual violence. Our wide range of services addresses the needs of survivors, perpetrators, and their families, helping to break cycles of abuse, promote healing, and foster safer communities. Each program is tailored to support individuals on their journey toward recovery, resilience, and long-term well-being.

Advocacy

SHF is dedicated to raising awareness across communities about the widespread impact of domestic and sexual violence, its root causes, and the societal costs it imposes. Our programs would focus on behavioral change approaches which seeks to understand the factors that prevent or enable behavior changes in a given context. Recognizing the importance of early intervention, we aim to educate children and young people about the dangers of domestic violence and abusive relationships. To achieve this, we would build on existing platforms in primary and secondary schools, to foster a culture of respect and non-violence from an early age.

Legal Advice, Representation and Referral Services

At SHF, we provide clients with legal referrals and community information through our collaborating law firm, Umar, Waziri & Partners, as well as a network of other service providers. We offer pro bono legal advice and representation for victims of domestic violence. These services include assistance with obtaining protection orders, addressing custody issues, and managing divorce proceedings, ensuring that victims receive the support and legal protection they need during difficult times.

Research and Publication

SHF is dedicated to conducting comprehensive research on issues of domestic and sexual violence and other attending issues. The insights gained from these studies will inform the development of broad-based policy guidelines that enhance support and protection for those affected by domestic violence. Additionally, our research will contribute to the creation of high-quality services for women and children and promote evidence-based training for key stakeholders, ensuring a more informed and effective response to domestic violence.

Counseling

Experiencing domestic violence leaves deep emotional scars that often last longer than physical wounds. At SHF, we understand the importance of breaking the cycle of isolation through counseling and support. We offer survivors a safe, confidential space to express their emotions, thoughts, and fears. Our nonjudgmental counselors are dedicated to listening and guiding survivors as they navigate their experiences and work towards healing. SHF’s counseling sessions are designed to empower survivors and help them move forward with confidence and resilience.
